At Shearwater Health we are always looking for new ways to give back to the community. Our strategy is built on establishing long-term partnerships that value our solutions and identify opportunities to continue leveraging our capabilities to solve their human capital challenges. In 2022, Shearwater launched the Shearwater Scholars Program to ” give back” to the Filipino community, which has been the foundation of our success, and we are excited about the program’s growth.
The Scholars Program was launched at the University of Cebu and Saint Jude College where our first 40 students were enrolled this past year. The Scholars program aims to provide financial assistance for nursing students who desire to pursue a nursing career in the U.S. after graduating and practicing in the Philippines. Shearwater will pay for the fourth year of tuition for students enrolled in the program and in return, the students will commit to working 2-3 years at a Philippines-based hospital while Shearwater processes their application for U.S. bedside assignment. We are excited to grow this program in the following years as it allows Filipino nurses to realize their U.S. dream while solving the nursing shortage.
Watching the program grow this year has been an amazing feeling at Shearwater. There are currently 67 scholars enrolled in the program with 61 nurses graduated. This year, the focus has been on adding additional university partners and expanding the platform to include CPO Scholars.
Partnerships are valuable strategies for organizations to increase their scale, establish a brand presence, deliver for their clients, and execute their Mission. We are excited to continue to grow the Shearwater Scholars program and are proud of all our participants thus far. In providing tuition assistance for future nursing graduates to join Shearwater Health as employees, we execute our mission statement to “improve healthcare outcomes globally.”
